Dmitri Logoutine was born in Kazakhstan, but left his home at 14 to train as an ice skater in Moscow, Russia. In December 1988 Dmitri became a Junior World Champion in Ice Dancing. In 1994 he came to Oklahoma City with the Russian Ballet on Ice where the 24-member troupe was stranded.
Oklahoma Christian University gave him a scholarship to study business administration. Friends in the OC Engineering Department assisted Dmitri in developing plans for a portable outdoor ice rink.
Dmitri began to support his young family by coaching ice skating at local ice rinks.
As the sole proprietor of Ice Challenge Enterprises, LLC, Dmitri Logoutine operated the Devon (formerly Braum's) Outdoor Ice Rink for eight years. The ice rink was the major income-producing event of Downtown Oklahoma City’s “Downtown in December” project and served in excess of 26,000 paying skaters in the 2010 season. It was such a success that the City of Oklahoma City has built a seasonal outdoor rink as a part of its new Myriad Garden project.
For the last four years, Dmitri has also operated the Arvest Bank’s Outdoor Ice Rink at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla., serving more than 20,000 paying skaters. Ice Challenge Enterprises provides the Norman Holiday Ice Rink for the second consecutive year.
Dmitri is looking forward to encouraging physical fitness while providing wholesome entertainment for youth, family and community groups at the outdoor ice rink at the Festival Market Place in Edmond, Okla., for the third consecutive season in 2013-14.
